"All the world`s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players."
(William Shakespeare "As you like it")
In Spring 2011, the theatre circle of our department introduced to your attention its debut play "Pygmalion" by Bernard Shaw. As I am a part of it, I would like to tell you about our theatre circle: its activity, members and a small history.
The theatre circle was established in October 2011, by the head of the department of English philology Mykhaylo Bilynsky.
It consists of the 15 members: the third, fourth and fifth year students, and the person who inspires us and helps us to make a spectacular performance: our tutor Olga Viytiv.

| Our theatre troupe
In May 2011, we took part in the twelfth international festival in Krosno (Poland). It was a great experience for us. We spent there a wonderful time and met a lot of nice and interesting people, because except us, there were the students from Russia, Slovakia, Hungary, USA and Poland, of course.
On the official site of the University was published an article about our membership. http://www.lnu.edu.ua/news/archiv/stud_teatr_krosno-05-11.htm
Also we visited Przemysl, the old part of the city. I will always remember our lovely trip to Poland.
What about our play, it was very interesting and funny to work on it. I play there Mrs. Pierce: old woman who is a house keeper. I will always remember the day of our premiere. Most of the ladies went to the barber shop and have made a marvelous hairdo. Then we put on our beautiful costumes. It was a very exciting day for all of us. There were a lot of spectators. And I`m sure that everyone was on the top!
At the present time we work on another famous play: "The Importance of being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. We make the rehearsals and practice on a stage. So I hope all of you would like to come and watch the premiere of "The Importance of being Earnest".
Our theatre team is very friendly. I enjoy to spend my time with them. And I am very happy and grateful that I found out the acting talent in myself and it became a part of my life and me:)
"I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being." Oscar Wilde |
